Suture Material Suture Material
SurgeFast is a type of sterile, synthetic absorbable sutures that are braided and made from a copolymer consisting of 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. These sutures are coated with a copolymer of Polyglactin 370 and calcium stearate and are available in their natural beige color. Another name for Polyglactin 910 is Poly(glycolide-co-L-lactide) 90/10, Glacomer 91, Lactomer 9-1, Polyglycolic Acid 9-1, or PGLA.
Characteristics Characteristics
SurgeFast, specifically the Polyglactin 910 sutures, are designed to provide support for wounds for a period of 7-10 days. The sutures possess high tensile strength, surpassing the requirements set by the United States Pharmacopeia (USP). For sutures with attached needles, AISI 300 series stainless steel is used. These sutures are easy to handle and can smoothly pass through tissue.
Indications Indications
SurgeFast's Polyglactin 910 (fast-absorbing) Surgical Sutures are suitable for use in superficial soft tissue approximation of the skin and mucosa, where short-term wound support (7-10 days) is needed. However, they should not be used for ligation, ophthalmic, cardiovascular, or neurological procedures. It's important to note that a mild inflammatory reaction may occur, which is a typical response to foreign bodies in the body.
Paraphrased Notice Paraphrased Notice
The sutures are sterilized using Ethylene Oxide (EO), and it is crucial not to attempt re-sterilization or reuse them. If the package is opened or damaged, the sutures should not be used.
Storage Storage
It is recommended to store the sutures below 25⁰C, away from moisture and direct heat. They should not be used after the expiry date, and their shelf life is 5 years from the date of manufacturing.
